I had always been a bit of a worrier, so when I began to experience abdominal pain and extreme fatigue, I did not hesitate to go to the doctor. After an ultrasound showed up a large mass in my stomach, the doctors confirmed that I had stomach cancer. Fortunately, the cancer was caught in its early stages and I only had to undergo surgery and radiation therapy.

While my story is unfortunately not unique, it does illustrate one of the many potential benefits of early detection of cancer: with treatment available today, an enormous majority of people with stomach cancer will live longer than if they had not been detected at all. So if you are experiencing any unusual symptoms that might point to cancer, don’t wait - go see your doctor today!

Symptoms of Stomach Cancer

If you're experiencing any of the following symptoms, it's time to get checked out: persistent vomiting, abdominal pain or discomfort, blood in your stool, or weight loss even if you're not losing any hair. If you have any of these symptoms and they've been going on for more than two weeks, it's time to see a doctor.

More than 2 million people are diagnosed with stomach cancer each year, and the majority of them (about 90%) will survive. However, the 5-year survival rate for people with stomach cancer is only about 50%. The good news is that early diagnosis and treatment can dramatically improve your odds of survival.

There are a variety of symptoms that can indicate stomach cancer, but some of the most common include: persistent vomiting, abdominal pain or discomfort, bloody diarrhea or constipation, unexplained weight loss even if you're not losing any hair, and a change in bowel habits (for example, more frequent diarrhea or constipation). If you notice any of these symptoms and they've been going on for more than two weeks, it's time to see a doctor.

How to Check for Stomach Cancer

If you are experiencing any of the following signs, it is important to see a doctor: unexplained weight gain, persistent nausea and vomiting, persistent abdominal pain, black stools. If you have any suspicion at all that you may have stomach cancer, it is important to seek medical attention. While there is no definitive test for stomach cancer, some of the more common tests used include an endoscopy or an MRI. If you are diagnosed with stomach cancer, your doctor will likely recommend treatment.

Treating Stomach Cancer

If you are like most people, you may be in denial about the existence of stomach cancer. This is especially true if you have never had any symptoms. However, if you have been diagnosed with stomach cancer, the sooner you start treatment, the better your chances for a successful outcome.

There are a number of warning signs that should prompt you to get checked for stomach cancer. These signs include:

1) A persistent feeling of fullness after eating or drinking which does not go away over time.
2) A change in bowel habits such as alternating between diarrhea and constipation.
3) Pain or tenderness in the upper abdomen, around the ribs or lower back, which does not go away with rest.
4)extreme tiredness even after getting adequate sleep.

Conclusion

If you are reading this, then it is likely that you have been told by a doctor that you may have cancer. Even if the diagnosis is not yet final, it is important to be proactive and understand as much as possible about the disease in order to make the best decisions for your health. In this article, I will share with you what I know about stomach cancer and how I knew it was something I needed to pay attention to. Hopefully, by sharing my story, it will help someone else who may be in a similar situation.
